New York State Tax Summit

Thank you to those who joined us at our inaugural New York State Tax Summit! As representatives for the majority of New York State taxpayers, your input is vitally important to us.

Your active participation offers the voice of the customer we need to provide the best possible resources and customer service to New York State taxpayers. We look forward to continuing this collaborative engagement in Spring 2017 with an upstate summit.

Doreen M. Inserra, CPA (Self-employed, Doreen M. Inserra, CPA, PC)

The NYS Department of Taxation & Finance Tax Summit was a full-day real time resource for tax practitioners being able to interact with each other; the Department's Executive and Deputy Commissioners, Directors, Heads and Managers; the Policymakers; Auditors; and Outreach Specialists to learn and clarify the changes coming our way in major tax areas such as Corporate Tax Reform; E-commerce and Sales Tax; and Residency and Nonresidency matters while being able to help resolve our clients' cases, on site.  A must go to event for any tax practitioner.

Jeff Serether, Tax Attorney (AIG)

This truly was an informative program and should be done on a regular basis. We all know that corporate tax reform was a huge undertaking and the New York State Tax Department continues to do an excellent job in informing us of any upcoming changes, and working directly with us to ensure our understanding of the new laws.

Susan Lennon, CPA

Most of the speakers were terrific and it was great to have access to the Tax Department’s brain trust to see them in front of you, so you had the opportunity to ask them questions face to face.

Irwin Slomka, Tax Attorney (Morrison Foerester)

This was an ambitious endeavor for the Tax Department to pull together, and they did a fantastic job. The issues we discussed are some of the most important we face as tax professionals and it was excellent to have all the right people in the room to have great discussions.

Phyllis Jo Kubey, Enrolled Agent (NYSSEA Director at Large)

The 1st Annual New York State Tax Summit was a great success.  I am looking forward to Summit #2.  In my opinion this event is a must for any tax professional serving NYS taxpayers.  The event exceeded my expectations – providing excellent and comprehensive content as well as an opportunity to meet/network with both NYSDTF personnel and a wide array of professional colleagues in attendance.  The agenda covered a wide range of practice issues and included both large sessions for all attendees and smaller breakout sessions.  I made so many contacts that will be of use to me in my practice.  There was a spirit of sharing and generosity that was extraordinary – a genuine two-way conversation among the NYSDTF personnel and practitioners.  Also notable was the diversity of attendees, including Enrolled Agents, CPAs, Attorneys, and Tax Preparers - solo practitioners to large firms – which added greatly to the day’s value.  I came away energized and with much new knowledge.  5 Stars and hats off to NYSDTF for initiating this important outreach event.
