11/04/2019 Assessment Community Weekly
Welcome to November. Stay tuned this month for the new Enhanced STAR Income Verification Program (IVP) Tool, the ACES Broadband Survey, and much more.
In the meantime, today we have a sales tip for new and returning assessors.
Tip for all assessors: Don’t wait to review your sales
Sales data is the foundation of the assessment profession. That’s why you should review your sales throughout the year. Here’s how:
Review the sales reports in the Online Assessment Community. Refer to Sales usability criteria for the details of what qualifies as an arms length sale and why properties are excluded.
Pay close attention to the Significant Change/New Construction/COD/RAR Usable column in the Arms Length Sales report. If you find a mistake in that column or elsewhere in the reports, follow these instructions:
- RPS users: within your RPS file, make the correction and then re-transmit it by going to Standard Reports > Sales > Sales Transmittal Report. Email the RPS035 to ORPTS.saleint@tax.ny.gov. The ORPTS sales database and online sales reports will be updated with the corrections.
- If you submit paper reports, use Form RP-5217 ACR, RP-5217 Sale Correction Form. Email the completed forms to ORPTS.saleint@tax.ny.gov or mail them to:
