Due date approaching: Aid for Cyclical Reassessments

If you conducted a 2021 reassessment and your final roll date is July 1, the deadline to apply for state aid is October 1. For details and application forms, see Aid for Cyclical Reassessments.

Where’s my check?

ORPTS has already issued more than 415,000 checks for the STAR credit this year. That includes more than half of the checks for school districts with September 30 school tax due dates.

Here are some points to consider if you’re contacted by a property owner who says they’re waiting for their check:

• If they received a 2021 STAR exemption, they won’t receive a STAR credit check (unless they switch to the STAR credit by December 31 and the credit is worth more than the exemption – see Giving up the STAR exemption for details).
• The STAR Check Delivery Schedule provides the general timeline for receiving a STAR check.
• If they’re not sure if they received a STAR check this year or in prior years, the Property Tax Credit Lookup is updated in real-time, and it goes back to 2017.
• If the property owner still has questions, they can call 518-457-2036 to speak to a representative.
