01/30/2023 Assessment Community Weekly

Would you like your LOA to be accepted as your eq rate and RAR?

If so, and your major type A (residential) ratio is within 5% of your overall ratio, you should submit your LOA for an early determination.

If you believe you qualify and your tentative roll date is May 1, submit your 2023 LOA to your ORPTS Customer Service Liaison by Friday, February 17.

Coming soon: RPSV4 update for two new exemptions

In the coming weeks, we’ll publish an RPSV4 update that includes the exemption codes for the following exemptions:

  • statewide volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers (4163-)
  • newly constructed residential property in the Villages of Minoa and Owego (44387)

In the case of a property with multiple exemptions, which exemptions should be subtracted first?

Exemptions should be calculated in this order:

  1. Fixed dollar amount exemptions
  2. Percentage based exemptions except 467 and 459-c (All percentage based exemptions are considered equal, so apply all to the same assessed value that remains after the application of fixed amount exemptions.)
  3. 467 or 459-c
  4. STAR

For details, see Opinion of Counsel, Volume 11, No. 110.
