06/24/2024 Assessment Community Weekly

Final Voluntary Exemption Removal Report (Report #6) is now available

The Final Voluntary Exemption Removal Report (Report #6) is now available in the Online Assessment Community for municipalities with July 1 final roll dates.

Report #6 lists property owners who were previously receiving the Basic or Enhanced STAR exemption but who have opted to switch to the STAR credit beginning this year.

We issue the Voluntary Exemption Removal Report twice annually for most municipalities. Generally:

  • the initial report (Report #3) is available before municipalities publish their tentative rolls, and
  • the final report (Report #6) is available before they publish their final rolls.

We cannot issue the final report until the statutory deadline has passed to switch to the STAR credit for the current year. For more information, see Deadline to switch to the STAR credit

Final state-owned land lists now available

Lists of taxable State-owned land and taxable State easements for 2024 assessment rolls are now available in the Online Assessment Community. If applicable to your town, please ensure that these approved lists agree with roll section three entries on your 2024 Assessment Roll.

Updated ORPTS Directory

We’ve updated the ORPTS Directory, which is available for the assessment community only. To ensure this directory is readily accessible to you, a link to it will now appear at the bottom of each edition of the ACW.

Note: We also suggest that you bookmark the link. You will not be able to search our website or use other search engines to find the directory. It is only available to the assessment community via the link.

2024 STAR credits are off and running!

We’ve started issuing 2024 STAR credits. As we have in recent years, we’ll send STAR credits to homeowners in school districts prior to the school tax due date.

To see when credits will begin going out in your area, visit our STAR Credit Delivery Schedule.

If you receive questions from homeowners about the STAR credit, direct them to call 518-457-2036.

Reminder: STAR Delinquency Report (Report #5) is now available

Report #5 lists Basic STAR exemption recipients who are no longer eligible for the exemption because their property taxes are more than one year delinquent.

The report is available for most counties and municipalities, and we are continuing to process data for localities that provided it after the deadline.

Run the report in the Online Assessment Community and remove the Basic STAR exemption from the listed properties.

For complete instructions, including exceptions where you should not remove the exemption, see STAR Delinquency Report Instructions.

For more information about this program, see STAR and Property Tax Delinquency.
