Due date approaching: Aid for Cyclical Reassessments

If you conducted a 2024 reassessment and your final roll date is July 1, the deadline to apply for state aid is October 1. For details and application forms, see Aid for Cyclical Reassessments.

Ethics recertification reminder

With the October 1, 2025 reappointment date just over a year away, it’s not too early to plan for your required ethics recertification. Re-appointed and re-elected assessors and county directors must take approved ethics training no more than one year prior to or one year after reappointment or reelection to office. New assessors and new county directors must take an approved ethics course within a year of taking office.

For approved courses and more information, see our Ethics component webpage.

STAR letters going out this week

RP-5310-DLI: Recipients of this letter are registered for the STAR credit, but their 2022 income was more than $500,000. They are not eligible for the STAR credit this year. We will continue to review our records to determine their eligibility in future years. Recipients of this letter do not need to do anything unless they disagree with our income determination.

RP-5310-DLPR: Recipients of this letter are registered for the STAR credit, but we are unable to confirm the property is the primary residence of any of the owners. Therefore, they are not eligible for the STAR credit at this property. Recipients of this letter do not need to take any action unless they disagree with our determination.

RP-5310-DLS: Recipients of this letter are registered for the STAR credit, but our records indicate that they may be receiving a STAR benefit on another property. To continue receiving a STAR credit on the property specified in the letter, recipients must respond within 30 days of the date on the letter.

RP-5310-WSP: Recipients of this letter are registered for the STAR credit, but we need additional income information to determine their eligibility. Within 30 days of the date on their letter, they should provide their income by:

  • completing our online income worksheet,
  • providing their income in the Homeowner Benefit Portal,
  • completing and returning the paper income worksheet enclosed with the letter, or
  • calling our representatives at the telephone number on the letter.

As always, if you’re contacted by a homeowner about a STAR-related letter from our department, direct them to the instructions and telephone number on the letter (518-457-2036).
