10/28/2024 RPS Online Surveys and Assessment Community Weekly
RPS Online surveys now available
We are pleased to announce that, in collaboration with the RPS Online Constituents Group, we have prepared two new surveys to assist us in the ongoing development of RPS Online.
Thank you in advance for participating in the surveys. Your participation is crucial to the ongoing development of RPS Online. Please complete the surveys by November 8.
The RPS Online Constituents Group will review the results of the surveys and make recommendations to ORPTS and the RPS Online Project Team.
Surveys:
Thanks to all of the members of the RPS Online Constituents Group who helped to develop these surveys.
If you have questions or input about RPS Online, please send them to RPSOnline@tax.ny.gov. We will use your questions to build a frequently asked questions webpage for the assessment community, and your feedback is valuable as we continue to design and develop the system.
Three New Exemption Codes for 2025 (so far)
Three new exemptions have been signed into law by Governor Hochul so far this year. We are in the process of adding the new exemptions to RPSV4, and we will let you know when the patch is ready.
We are providing the exemption codes below for users of software other than RPSV4.
Note that two of the bills signed into law created two new Sections 421-p of the Real Property Tax Law. While this is not typical, it’s not unprecedented.
- Exemption for newly constructed or converted rental multiple dwellings (RPTL 421-p): 4427_
- Exemption for newly converted or constructed fully income restricted rental multiple dwellings (RPTL 421-pp): 4428_
- Exemption for capital improvements to residential new construction creating accessory dwelling units (RPTL 421-p): 4429_
- There are two additional bills that have not yet been delivered to the Governor that would require new exemption codes. If those bills are signed into law, we will share the exemption codes with you.
Reminder: Senior Income Level Report (Report #9) is now available in the Online Assessment Community
Report #9 lists properties whose owners have federal adjusted gross income below the maximum income that could possibly qualify them for a senior citizens (467) exemption.
To be listed on the report, the owners would typically:
- meet the age requirements for the 2024 Enhanced STAR benefit, and
- have a reported federal adjusted gross income (FAGI) below $58,400 on their 2022 income tax return(s).
For the details of Report #9, see the instructions.
