E-file: Corporation tax general information
E-file is required for certain corporation tax filers
Starting January 1, 2009, e-filing of corporation tax returns and extensions, and e-payment of any balance due is required for certain corporations:
The New York State Department of Taxation & Finance is participating in the Fed/State 1120 corporation tax e-file program, under the IRS Modernized e-File (MeF) architecture.
- Corporation that prepare and file their own returns using tax software
- Tax preparers

What corporation tax returns can I e-file?
You can use NYS approved e-file software to e-file returns and extensions for the current year. In addition, you can e-file prior year returns going back to tax year 2017.
You can find a list of forms supported by our program at e-file supported forms. Check with your software provider to find out if your software supports your filing needs.
